Peter Forman Biography

With the recent announcement by County Court Judge Gerald V. Hayes that he will not seek re-election this fall, I have decided to seek the nomination of the Republican, Conservative and Independence Parties for the position of Dutchess County Court Judge.

County Court is where all indictments or felony complaints are adjudicated. I started my career as a prosecutor in the Dutchess County District Attorney's Office in 1983. During my 3 1/2 years in that office I served as a Special Prosecutor for DWIs and tried several felony cases as part of a repeat felony offender program that was funded by the federal government. In 1993, I was appointed by County Court Judge Thomas J. Dolan to be his law clerk. In that capacity, I was responsible for researching questions of law, drafting decisions and preparing jury instructions. I held that position until I started on the bench in Family Court in 1999.

I am running for the position of Dutchess County Court Judge because I believe that I have the qualifications and experience that voters expect for a member of the judiciary in the area of criminal law.

I plan to campaign in every town , village and city in Dutchess County in the coming months. Your support, in whatever form, is much appreciated.

Very truly yours,

Peter M. Forman
